Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP)

WHAT IS RISK MANAGEMENT PLANNING?

Risk Management Planning is the methodology that all fire and rescue services must use to ensure that equal resources and emphasis are placed on PREVENTION, PROTECTION and RESPONSE, taking into consideration the risks inherent to their area.

It is a requirement under the National Framework, produced by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) the that all fire and rescue services will produce, review and update their own IRMP, with consultation of key stakeholders within their Community.

The IRMP is our Strategic Plan that also incorporates our yearly Action Plan, which outlines what the fire and rescue services intend to do during that financial year.

To be effective the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service’s IRMP will:
  • Identify the existing and potential risks to our Community
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of our current PREVENTION, PROTECTION and RESPONSE activities
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, and determine policies and standards for PREVENTION and RESPONSE
  • Determine the resources required to meet those policies and standards
  • Include arrangements for the implementation, monitoring, audit and review of these policies and standards.
