Paul will be given a Fire Service funeral on 9 September, at the Minster Church of Saints Thomas, St. Thomas Square, Newport, Isle of Wight. The funeral service will start promptly at 1330 hrs.
As a mark of respect, and following a request from his family, the County Hall flag will fly at half mast on this day.
'Parade up' / Lining the route
All personnel attending the funeral should make their way to St. George's Park Football Club, St. George's Way, Newport PO30 2QH. (If required, changing facilities will be available at the football club). It is a 15 minute walk from here to Newport Fire Station. For those who do not wish to walk, there will be a bus service from the car park at 1130 hrs and 1200 hrs. This service will terminate at the Fire Station.
The parade will line the route from Newport Fire Station to the church. Those wishing to take part are asked to be in position by 1245 hrs, as the cortege will leave the Fire Station at 1310 hrs.
After the ceremony, all personnel are invited back to St. George's Park, where there will be a small buffet and use of the bar available. There will be a bus to take you back to St. George's Park Football Club, leaving Newport Fire Station at 1430 hrs and 1500 hrs.
Dress code for IWFRS personnel
Operational personnel - uniform will be shirt sleeve order, without tee shirts, with medal bars or ribbons. Where undress uniform is issued, this will be worn with medals.
Non-operational personnel - smart attire appropriate to the occasion.
Other emergency services should wear their uniforms as appropriate to the occasion.
